73 year old Indian man fails to pass high school exams for 38th time. After passing exam, man hopes to marry a woman under 30.

JAIPUR, India (Reuters) - A 73-year-old Indian farmer who vowed not to marry before passing his high school exams has failed to get through for the 38th time.

Shiv Charan Yadav has been taking the exams -- normally given to schoolchildren at the age of 15 -- every year since 1969, without success.

He was in his 30s when he first decided to better himself through education.

This year, he failed everything except Sanskrit, scoring only 103 out of a possible 600 points.
He said he found mathematics especially hard, blaming the subject for dragging down his score.

"Once I pass I want to get married to a girl who's under 30," Yadav, who lives alone in Kohari village in the western desert state of Rajasthan, told Reuters.

He is now revising for his 39th attempt next year.

Forbes Magazine Releases Its Celebrity 100. (Oprah is #1)

When I look at the kind of money these celebrities are making, it seems like it wouldn't be that unreasonable for me to ask one of them if they could help me get an iPod video.

But yet, it is.

Tonight, I entered Billboard's Mobile Beat contest to become a mobile blogger at summer concerts.

It's a long shot, but someone has to win, right? There are things we try that seem impossible, but if we don't try, we won't know if they really were.

In the US, a celebrity sex tape brings you notoriety, a Dave Chappelle Parody, and way too much news coverage when you go to prison (twice). In Iran, it means "fines, whip lashings, or worse."

And now, for porn, its stars, producers, directors, and staff, might be subject to a death penalty in Iran.

People say that the world is all turning into one homogeneous place with the "McDonald-ization" of the planet, but things like this make you beg to differ.

Former CBS Evening News anchor Dan Rather is not a big fan of current CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric

Ratings are bad... Still kind of dreamy.

Calling her version of the news "tart" and that she's "dumbing it [the news] down," Rather expressed his overall displeasure with the former morning show superstar.

I grew up watching Dan Rather with my dad after we'd watch The Cosby Show, so I'm a little torn in this situation.

I'm doing the ABC/CBS story comparison this week, I promise. Then I can see just how "tart" my beloved Katie's news is compared to her competitor's.

While I don't really know what the point of the Alanis parody is, I do think it's funny that YouTube might slowly be becoming an area for artists to diss or poke fun at each other. I just remember when going on the Internet was considered dorky, now it's the breeding ground for almost everything cool.

I also think it's very funny that Steve Carrell's character on The Office still has a My Humps ringtone. Maybe that's a good idea...

A Very ''Bloggy'' Post

I figured that I would take a break from the random and interesting news that I figure people might find interesting to do a more ''bloggy'', xanga-like post about my weekend. It's a bit of a throwback, but I feel like it's always good for sanity and it might make up for me forgetting to call anyone back. Well, I also have an hour to burn, so I figured I would try and be productive.

On Friday, I caught ''Knocked Up,'' which I think was hyped up a little too much in my head. It definitely had some funny moments, but not since ''Borat'' have I seen a movie that really made me laugh uncontrollably (other than the one part in ''Blades of Glory'' during their first male-male performance that anyone who has seen the movie remembers). I thought the movie was pretty good, gives hope to those of us who aren't strikingly good looking that maybe we could end up with a Katherine Heigl one day. Unrealistic? Probably, but it was still pretty entertaining. It's like watching a group of your friends make fun of each other for a couple hours. Ok laughs, but you wouldn't necessarily consider yourselves to be comic geniuses.

Yesterday was a great Saturday. I went down to Venice beach and biked along the beach up to and past Santa Monica pier and the various beaches along the coast. Who knew it was so close? We made it pretty deep into Santa Monica from Venice and back in just under an hour (59 minutes, putting the rental cost at $6 compared to $11 for two hour). I could definitely see myself doing this on a fairly regular basis because I don't really know what gets that much better than that.

Afterwards, we went to my favorite brunch spot, Jack and Jill's in Beverly Hills where I broke from the norm and got a grilled veggie focaccia sandwich that was really good!

We decided to walk off the food around Beverly Hills and ran into a lady who was walking a really well-behaved, older dog. We found out that there was a dog hospital and kennel right across the street where rescued dogs are taken care of in hopes of being adopted. In addition, people volunteer at the kennel and walk the dogs throughout the day (no set schedule). We decided to undergo the brief orientation and take a couple dogs out for a walk, which must be a thrill for the dogs instead of staying in the kennel all day. It was really fun and now we're legitimately considering getting a dog. However, he'd have to be older because we're not home all day and hopefully nothing too big to accomodate our apartment. Nothing is set yet, but it's exciting to think about!

After a brief stop at home, I met part of my favorite family that's not my own at Kate Mantilini's in Beverly Hills for dinner because they had come up from San Diego to go see ''Wicked'' at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood. Mantilini's was just as advertised, an upscale diner. I think it'd be a pretty cool date spot if you get there early (no wait by 6:00 on Saturday night, but filled up quick). Definitely runs about $25-$30 a person if you're reasonable, but it's not too bad of a deal considering the ambiance, service and selection.

It's Sunday today, came to church an hour early on accident and wondered why I got such a good parking spot. Now I'm sitting in the parking lot, about to head inside.

Today's goal? Clean my room. I've just been so busy during the week that it's turning into a mad house in there. Doing some work from home as well, but definitely looking forward to getting some much desired rest.

What has gotten into Grey's Anatomy's Kate Walsh?

Clearly, there's something very scripted about this whole clip from David Spade's "The Showbiz Show," and I wonder if it's ABC trying to change Walsh's image to fit in with the feel of her new Grey's spinoff tentatively titled "Private Practice."

If the show is anything like that two hour debacle that aired on a "special" Grey's Anatomy this season, I doubt this show will last more than 8 episodes.

However, this is coming from the guy who thought iPods were stupid when they came out.

Definitely the best week in DaveChung.com's 6 month history.

If the chart is way too small (I just whipped it up in Excel, which I admit is a little dorky), page impressions this week jumped from:
- 65 impressions on Wednesday to...
- 869 impressions on Thursday
- 533 impressions on Friday.

No doubt this comes as a result of me somehow getting linked to another more popular (aka more successful) site, but it was exciting to me so I thought I would share!

Only in LA?

Sitting in the food court, there's a group of kids here with eNVy's (NV's? Envy's?), new RAZRs, and Sidekicks calling people on speaker phone and leaving insane voicemails.

Does this happen everywhere? Remember when having a pager, let alone an alphanumeric pager was a big deal? Remember when you had to pay extra to have voicemail? No doubt these kids have text messaging plans to go with their own cell phone and have plans that make it ok for them to make prank call after prank call to people they have crushes on.

Only in LA? Or everywhere? 23 is totally not young anymore.
